Yosemite National Park Adventure Engagement Session // Yosemite National Park Elopement Photographer
Yosemite National Park Hiking Elopement Photographer// Yosemite Wedding Photographer
This Yosemite adventure engagement session is extra super special because Kaitlin and Jordan are two of my very best friends! Long story short I grew up with Kait and Jordan grew up with my boyfriend, Dylan, we introduced them one night and the rest is history. The best part was being able to witness Jordan propose to Kait while he was visiting home. I was so excited when I was in traveling to California and mentioned to Kait that I could do her engagement pictures. Kait and Jordan were beyond stoked and with Yosemite being a little over 2 hours away from where they live it was like the stars had aligned.
So what led to Kait and Jordan's Yosemite adventure engagement session wasn't easy for either of them. They did long distance for awhile, first they both lived in the same state but still it was a 6+ hour drive. Then Jordan's job relocated him all the way to California, which is total opposite of Florida. They went I think a little over 6 months without seeing each other and while Jordan was overseas with spotty wifi signal he managed to design a ring that I think is the perfect fit for Kait.
Jordan came home for the holidays and at a family gathering he got down on one knee in front of everyone and asked Kait to marry him. He was nervous, Kait still had her beer in hand, moms were crying, it was adorable. She just moved out to California the beginning of February and now Kait and Jordan are doing life together. I asked Kait and Jordan to answer a few questions for this blog post and this is what they said!
Describe the night Jordan asked you to marry him?
We had all of our family and close friends around us for what was a "welcome home party" for Jordan who had just gotten off deployment. We had just been reunited a few days prior after six long months of not seeing each other. Towards the end of the night everyone was sitting around the fire and I walked outside by myself to everyone sitting there talking kind of quietly amongst themselves. Only a few people knew that the night had actually been set up for Jordans proposal but at this point I was later informed that everyone knew and was waiting for that moment, hence the awkward silence. I sat down on Jordans lap and tried initiating conversation with him but he was also quiet and left me with short answers. But before I could think too much about it he was standing up which then forced me to stand in front of the crowd of family and friends. He said "Kait and I just wanted to thank everyone for coming out tonight, it has been a long six months and I've missed everyone. But it has been the hardest to be away from you, I never want to be apart again" (at this point he was trying to nudge me from up against him so he had space to get on a knee but I wouldn't budge. He ended up having to gently push me away and then turn me around so when I turned around he was on a knee). He continued with "so Kait, If you'll have me, Id like to ask you to marry me." I responded with my favorite coconut porter in hand with, "yes of course".
All the years leading up to a proposal you form all these perfect ideas in your head of where it'll take place and what will be said between the two of you. If I'm honest it wasn't how I imagined it would be but I'm grateful for it all. Having people that meant the most to both of us, the simple yet meaningful words said between the two of us, and of course my beer in hand made it all our own story. That night will go down as one of our favorite memories together.
What is your favorite adventure you've been on together?
Driving across the country together. Florida to California
What is your favorite thing about each other?
Jordan: Her spirit of adventure. She makes me want to experience things I wouldn't normally want to do. She also has the kindest heart.
Kait: He has a really good personality and is a lot of fun. People like to be around him. He's a funny story teller and just loves making people laugh. He also has a heart of gold.
Who said I love you first?
Jordan: Kait did!!
Kait: I've never been the first to say it but I definitely did...
Who is the messiest?
Jordan: Kait is when she's eating, its like eating with a young child haha. But other than that she's a clean freak.
Kait: Jordan for sure! The man can't make his clothes in the laundry basket or admit to his boots tracking in dirt everyday ugh.
Who takes longer to get ready?
Jordan: Neither of us take very long but Kait is very slow at getting out of bed so that stalls us sometimes.
Kait: That is true, unfortunately.
Who holds their alcohol better?
Kait: Me. Hmm lets recall just this past weekend on St. Patricks day..
Jordan: Haha, its pretty even. We both like to have a good time.
Describe you first kiss
It was in the ocean at night and it was rough to say the least. But being waist deep wondering when the next wave would hit us and knock us over made it that much more fun.
Out of all the places you've been wheres your favorite?
Kait: Yosemite National Park for sure! You're constantly surrounded by beauty whether you're at Glacier Point looking down on everything, in the valley looking up, or standing amongst the giant Sequoias. So fitting that our engagement photos were taken there.
Jordan: I'd have to agree. Yosemite is awesome, I remember standing in awe the first time I saw everything.
